A couple of key tips surrounding how you market yourself for a new Job
In today’s job market its seems as though being smart, qualified, dependable, determined and many other well admired and expected qualities just is not enough. We have to be extra all these things and still cross our fingers and hope someone else was not extra, extra these things and granted the position.
It is literally like survival of the fittest out there although even the strong don’t survive. So, what does it take to make the cut? What more could you possibly do other than spend hours and hours searching, applying, interviewing, waiting?
Well, believe it or not there are some tips and secrets to be let in on that others may not be aware of to give you that “edge” that is so desperately needed nowadays.
A couple of key tips surrounding how you market yourself are as follows:
1) Make it Personal with a Cover Letter- believe it or not people are still not writing cover letters! And if they are they are just plain generic. Personalize it for the job you are applying for. Highlight your attributes that would contribute to that particular C++ Jobs role, identify yourself with the company, its values and what the position entails. It may take some extra time, but believe me the effort is well worth it.
2) Don’t neglect your resume, for he is your right hand man- Your résumé should not be just a summary of your work experience/ educational background. Don’t even bother to listing jobs more than 15 years old. You want to try to make it one, no more than two pages long. Instead, evaluate your recent accomplishments and accentuate your capabilities. Also, make sure it is digital-friendly and easily up loadable. Try avoiding bullets, boxes, boldface, weird fonts etc.
3). It should also be filled with those “keywords” that employers are looking for.
Best of luck applying these tips to your job applying potential!
